Inspirational Design

A space that has inspired me since I first laid eyes on is a familiar space in reality TV. This space has been one of the homes of the MTV sho, The Real World Austin. This spectacular space was designed by Michael Hsu Design Office. Their firm is known for their unique bold designs in commercial and residential space. When I first seen this show I remember falling in love with the house, the red and pink walls were beautiful and not to mention the wall paper on the walls. Funny part is that I remember the rooms more than the show itself . The art on the wall was amazing, the cowboy and its cattle gave it such a Texan look. The kitchen walls made the place look bright and full of energy. This space made a change to my career goals, it made me realize that i was not like most people and looked at the smallest details in a home or any space I would be in.

Field Report

I have chosen scenario #2 Estelle’s Smoothie Café, and as a site visit I went to Jamba Juice. This place sells similar to Estelle’s café. While I was there I looked around my surroundings. I notice the pain color on the walls that o absolutely loved. They were a lime green and sort of a melon orange; it reminded me of what Estelle likes: outdoors, clean lines and nature. It had a warm comfortable feeling. The employees there were extremely nice and helpful. When I walked in I had trouble choosing and they were kind enough to give me there opinion which was very helpful. The place was small but not crowded there was plenty of space for the employees and customers. The disadvantages of this place is that there tables are to chairs to a table, four tables only. I also did not like their floor, it was a wooden floor but it looked beat up and old. It did not go with the atmosphere of the place. Another negative part was that it did not have public restrooms. This place is more of a “come-and-go” while I was there various people came in ordered and left. As for costumers there were of all age. This Jamba Juice was pleasant, besides small details I did not like it was nice to visit

Project Spotlight

A project that has inspired me was actually one of my own, a couple of weeks ago we had an assignment called inspiration board, where we researched an interior designer of our choice. I choose Trisha Wilson, while reading an article in "Dmagazine" about her i found her story extremely interesting. Trisha was born and raised in Dallas she was B average student and had a hard time threw college but that did not stop her from achieving her career. She now is a well recognized designer who works all over the country. Her projects and story has inspired me because I feel like i have a lot in common with her threw out her college years, and roots. She has inspired me to do my best and never give up.

Site Visit

As my site visit i choose Panera Bread. This is a mini restaurant, cafe, bakery, and smoothie shop. I love going to this place, it is a real relaxing place. Most customers there are college students that go for free WiFi but stay for the food and drinks. My favorite part about this place is their colorful wall paint, lighting and art pieces. Panera has a warm cozy feeling that makes one feel comfortable. A disadvantage of this place is the restroom, it is small and to plain, i expected to see a fancier or more color but it was a plain dreadful yellow. Besides that the place is awesome and the employees are great. I highly recommend this place.
